William became interested in photography as a young child. He was an avid reader and would spend hours studying pictures in magazines and trying to draw them. Later, he received a Kodak folding camera and a banjo. These special gifts unlocked the two passions of his life, photography and music and he became proficient in both. William was an active member of the Philadelphia Lens Guild where he honed his craft in composition and print development. As a member of the Philadelphia Lens Guild he competed in exhibitions, winning numerous awards. He also became a professional wedding photographer. His cameras of choice were Konica and Hasselblad.

William retired from photography 15 years ago due to failing vision. His other interests include Spanish Culture, and he speaks fluent Spanish. He is still passionate about music and is an audiophile. William resides in Berlin, New Jersey with his wife of 52 years, Ruth Ann Woodland Perry. They have one daughter, Ruth, a physician, and two grand-daughters, Kendall Taylor Walton, age 16 and Courtney Eleanora Walton, age 14.
